Panasonic Europe (PE) took part in a community clean-up event called the Big Community Clear Up* on October 30, 2024, at Mount Tabor, West Yorkshire, in the United Kingdom. Also participating was Hannah Cockroft, nine times wheelchair sprint winner in the Paralympic Games. They gathered over 250 kilograms of garbage in a few hours, including items that had been illegally dumped.

As PE intends to support this ongoing initiative of the Mount Tabor Community Association, it provided participants who did particularly well with gifts and sponsored a design contest for road signs. It also provided high visibility jackets to participants for their safety, installed anti-littering signs and large garbage bins, and gave financial support to prevent littering and illegal dumping.

PE has named top athletes practicing sustainability as Panasonic Sustainability Ambassadors as a Panasonic GREEN IMPACT initiative to promote environmental activities. The aim is to raise public awareness of climate change through the activities of these athletes. This clean-up was one such activity.

Ms. Cockroft is a native of Mount Tabor. She began wheelchair racing in 2007 and gained two gold medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. In addition to being a wheelchair racer, she is very concerned about environmental issues and is highly enthusiastic about her work as a sustainability ambassador.

Kathrin Schlangenfeldt, Sustainability & Environment Communication Manager of PE, commented as follows on the significance of these activities.

"Mount Tabor has such beautiful nature and its people clean up garbage every month, but still illegal dumping and littering are steadily increasing. We can influence people so that everyone does better for the environment. If each person picks up a piece of litter when they go out, then that can have a major impact. We at Panasonic will continue to support these community activities to protect local nature and help to conserve biodiversity."

* The Big Community Clear Up is an environmental event active in several regions in the United Kingdom. Local residents maintain beautiful communities and protect the environment by cleaning up roadsides, parks, public areas and so forth.
