The 71st Japan Traditional Kogei -Art Crafts- Exhibition was held at Kyoto Takashimaya from October 9 to 14. On the first day, the Kinki Branch of the Japan Kogei Association held a celebration to mark the exhibition and a ceremony for the Konosuke Matsushita Memorial Panasonic Awards at the Ryozen Museum of History, dedicated to the Bakumatsu Period and the Meiji Restoration, in Higashiyama, Kyoto.
The Japan Traditional Kogei -Art Crafts- Exhibition is one of the biggest shows featuring works by the general public in Japan. It has been held since 1954 by the Japan Kogei Association. Panasonic has been a stakeholder since our founder, Konosuke Matsushita, began to support the association in 1960 and served as the first head of its Kinki Branch.
Since 1979 the Matsushita Award (later the Panasonic Award) has been presented to artists from the Kinki region who were selected as award winners or winners for the first time. From this exhibition the title of the award was changed to the Konosuke Matsushita Memorial Panasonic Award, and some of its details have also been changed.
At the ceremony Director Megumi Kitagawa of the CSR & Citizenship Office, Panasonic Holdings Corporation, gave an address on behalf of the group and presented an award to Mie Nohara, a ceramic artist who was selected as a winner at the exhibition for the first time. After the ceremony, the award winners were invited to our founder's villa called Shinshin-An in Higashiyama, Kyoto.
