Kitchen Appliances Business Provides School Meals in Developing Countries
Panasonic Marketing Europe GmbH announced two initiatives by the kitchen appliances business in Europe to coincide with World Food Day on October 16. The first is to provide 100,000 school meals to children in developing countries through donations to the NPO Table For Two International (TFT). The second initiative, to run from October 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025, will provide five school meals for every kitchen appliance sold via the company's online shop.
Panasonic Marketing Europe GmbH has redefined the goal of the European kitchen appliances business as more than just sales and profit. Its aim is to provide healthy meals to as many people as possible, helping to create a world free of hunger and full of consideration for others. It will provide new value in all its product development and marketing under this goal to raise brand value by fulfilling corporate social responsibility.
These initiatives were introduced in the "Panasonic in Numbers" series of Panasonic Newsroom on October 16.
◆ TFT initiatives in the Panasonic Group
The Panasonic Group has been collaborating with the NPO Table For Two International (TFT)'s program to provide hot school meals to children in developing countries since 2009. Proceeds from employees choosing TFT meals in company cafeterias are donated to TFT, reaching approximately $200,000 so far.
Through TFT Panasonic has provided 1.5 million school meals in the five countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, and the Philippines. This effort also helps end poverty by providing educational opportunities and contributes to seven of the 17 SDGs, including no poverty (SDG 1) and zero hunger (SDG 2).
