The Hyogo Factory of Panasonic Interior Building Products Co., Ltd., part of the Panasonic Housing Solutions Co., Ltd. group, has signed an agreement with Hyogo Prefecture for forest management of Naka Yachiyo Forest Park to prevent global warming for approximately five years from July 1, 2024, to March 31, 2029. Yamato Juken, Inc., and Harimac Co., Ltd. are joint partners in the agreement.

On July 1 it donated a million yen (approx. 7,000 dollars) to support these activities. On August 29 a ceremony was held at the Hyogo Prefectural Office to exchange documents pertaining to the agreement. The initiative is called Tsumugi Forest under the concept of intertwining (tsumugu) the relationships between people and the forest going forward. This will be the Hyogo Tsumugi Forest, the second such effort by the company, following the Gunma Tsumugi Forest created by an agreement with Gunma Prefecture in September 2022.

Panasonic Interior Building Products has made efforts to solve environmental problems through thermal recycling (reusing wood chips and dust generated in the manufacturing process as auxiliary fuel) and selling its Sustainable Floor, an environmentally friendly flooring material.

Greater demand for recycled materials for timber can be expected from happenings in recent years such as the rapid rise in the price of lumber, the international situation, and the destruction of forests. This company, as one of Japan's biggest producers of door frames, is actively taking the lead in the industry to pioneer the partial use of recycled materials.

Given its position of responsibility in using timber, it will take steps to apply technology to diverse products and to preserve forests to combine business with social contributions for achieving an Everlasting Tomorrow and Green Housing.
