Global: Start of FY2024 Panasonic Scholarship Asia Activities
Panasonic Scholarship Asia is a community-based program to foster next-generation youth that provides support to students at universities and vocational training schools in Asian countries and regions.Award ceremonies for these scholarship students have kicked off from the Philippines with the full-scale start of FY2024 activities.
Panasonic Scholarship Asia is a scholarship program launched in 1998 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Panasonic's founding, inspired by the philosophy that it is talented human beings who create sustainable societies.Currently it is active in nine countries and regions: Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Following our founder Konosuke Matsushita's philosophy to "develop people before making products," it provides educational support for economic aspects, a Philosophy Learning program as guiding principles for life, and support for ongoing networking after the students have completed their studies.
Going forward it will actively develop original support in each country and region, such as skill training and internships, in collaboration with local group companies.
FY2024 award ceremonies held in various countries and regions
In FY2024 the program will award scholarships to 116 students through ceremonies to be held successively in each country and region.
Scholarships were awarded to 17 students. Many alumni joined the ceremony even though it was held on a weekday, sharing their own memories and what they are doing now.
Scholarships were awarded to 10 students. The ceremony was held together with a report meeting for scholarship students who had taken two-month internships.
Scholarships were awarded to 21 students. Many executives attended the ceremony, including PMI's President Sasage.
Scholarships were awarded to ten Indian Institutes of Technology students from out of approximately 1,000 applications. The scholarship funds will pay for approximately 70% of the four years' worth of tuition fees.
The scholarships went to 20 excellent students chosen from universities nationwide. During the ceremony, the new scholarship students heard messages of congratulations from PV executives, university stakeholders, and others.
The Panasonic Group is providing learning opportunities so that young people with talent in Asia and worldwide can access good quality education to change themselves and their local communities for the better.
