The Philippines: Engaging in Corporate Citizenship Activities through a Global Program

Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation (PMPC) held four global programs for corporate citizenship activities in three days from July 11 to 13.

President Higami, other executives and many employees together took part in them.

For the LIGHT UP THE FUTURE support program for areas without electricity on the first day, they visited a village that had received a donation of solar lanterns two years ago, and conducted an interview survey on changes in their lifestyles since the donation. "The children's grades have gone up because they can study even after the sun goes down with the light from the solar lanterns. The children are starting to think about going to university one day. We can do our work after sundown without using kerosene lamps, which saves us on lamp oil and increases our income." Such was one of the answers received. (Photos 1 and 2)

On the second day an award ceremony for the Panasonic Scholarship Asia was held. It was attended by 57 former scholarship students in addition to this fiscal year's recipients. They talked about life after receiving the scholarship and what they are doing now, emphasizing the importance of networking among Panasonic Scholarship alumni active in every field. PMPC believes the corporate citizenship activities it has continued to implement for over 50 years based on Panasonic's management philosophy are important to raise brand value and to enhance employee engagement. PMPC utilizes global programs in collaboration with the PHD/PEX Corporate Citizenship Activities Sector while actively engaging in and building up corporate citizenship activities led by executives together with employees.
