Japan:Social Good Meetup Themed on Pet Adoption Held for Employees

On April 11 Panasonic held an online Social Good Meetup (SGM) for employees titled Do You Know About Rescue Cats and Dogs? What You Can Do for Their Happiness. A record number of 254 people attended.

Speaking at this SGM was Kozue Isozaki, chief editor of the Asahi Shimbun's pet information website Sippo. She talked about abuse and abandonment of pets, their sale by malicious businesses, inappropriate care by animal welfare groups, and animal hoarders who keep more pets than they can properly look after, leading to impoverishment and being no longer able to keep the pets.

Another speaker was Mizuki Moriyama of the Communication Design Center (Design Division, Panasonic Corporation) who works for the Panasonic Pet Adoption Secretariat. She described the Ziaino Pet Welfare Project that supports pet adoption activities by providing comfortable environments through donating Ziaino devices to animal welfare groups, and also talked about the pet adoption meets held since 2022. There were endless questions after the speeches and more questions and comments about the meetup posted on the chat the next day, indicating the high level of concern for animal welfare and pets.

The Panasonic Pet Adoption Meet 2024 hosted by Panasonic Corporation, the fourth so far, was held on April 27 and 28 at the Panasonic Center Tokyo, with 254 cats and dogs from 13 animal welfare organizations and 5,500 visitors. Panasonic Corporation will continue to support comfortable and healthy lives for cats and dogs through its products and business operations. We will also strive to create a society where every member of a household can live in happiness through social contribution projects like the pet adoption meets and donating our products to animal welfare organizations.
