Japan: Selected as Platinum Partner for 11th Consecutive Year for TFT Meal Aid to Developing Countries

Ending Poverty

2024.06.20

The Panasonic Group has participated in the NPO Table For Two International (TFT)'s program to provide hot school meals to children in developing countries since 2009, and was recently selected as an FY2024 Platinum Partner of the program. This is the 11th consecutive year to be so recognized, and we also received a letter of appreciation marking our ongoing support over such a long period of time.

In this initiative some of the proceeds from TFT dishes on the menu of employee cafeterias are donated to TFT. The number of users was decreased in FY2023 due to the remote work, but even so in one year we collected around 1.4 million yen ($9,000), equivalent to approximately 70,000 school lunches in developing countries.

We have donated a total of around 30 million yen ($190,000) since 2009 to provide through TFT around 1.5 million school lunches in the five countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, and the Philippines.

We will continue to work on initiatives involving food together with employees to promote action with the aim of ending poverty, which is one the core themes of our corporate citizenship activities.
