Believing that a truly green mindset is needed to create truly green products, since 1998 Panasonic Group employees, their family members, and local communities have actively conducted environmental activities to raise environmental awareness and change lifestyles.

From 2010 these activities have been promoted worldwide under the new name of Panasonic ECO RELAY for Sustainable Earth, incorporating the idea of connecting generations together. In this newsletter we will introduce some activities that were undertaken in March and April.

Panasonic Group companies in North America conduct ECO RELAY Activities every year on April 22, which marks Earth Day, a day to think about, appreciate, and take action for the global environment. At the New Jersey operating site of Panasonic Corporation of North America 65 employees joined in this year's clean-up activity in Branch Brook Park, tidying up after the cherry festival and removing garbage.

The event was a good opportunity to build bonds between fellow employees of Panasonic.

On April 13, Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. (PAPAGZ) and Panasonic Wanbao Appliances Compressor (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. (PWAPCGZ) planted trees to protect the lush greenery of nature and heighten awareness of CSR and environmental conservation among employees. Over 50 employees gathered in the park on the day to dig holes in the ground, place the trees, and carefully add fertilizer and water. Two hours of work resulted in 16 new trees being planted in the park, bringing new greenery to it.

The ECO RELAY event by Panasonic Group companies in Taiwan took place on March 9 at the Zhishan Cultural and Ecological Garden in the Shilin District of Taipei. Managing Director Huang Zheng-Cheng of Panasonic Taiwan Co., Ltd. (PTW) and Managing Director Tadashi Kayada of Panasonic AVC Networks Taiwan gave opening speeches, and Lee Ming Huang, director of the park, gave a speech of appreciation. This year the event included environmental education as well as the customary tree planting. Over 400 employees took part in an ecological walk to experience the culture and ecology that have existed under the branches of the trees here for 100 years. Participants expressed surprise and admiration on learning about the flora, fauna, culture, and ecology of the park.
