Japan: Sponsorship and Booth for WWF's Earth Hour
Earth Hour 2024: Turn Off Your Lights and Think About the Planet was held on Saturday, March 23 at LaLaport Toyosu (Koto Ward, Tokyo). The event was specially sponsored by the PHD CSR & Citizenship Office, and the Panasonic Group exhibited a booth there. Earth Hour is an environmental action held by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) International since 2007 for people worldwide to turn off lights at the same time on the same day, and show willingness to prevent global warming and protect biodiversity. Currently over 190 countries and regions take part in it.
The Panasonic Group has been collaborating for over 20 years with WWF Japan in activities to protect life below water. Accordingly, our booth featured poster panels and videos on the current condition of the oceans and greater understanding of sustainable seafood as well as sea turtle coloring pages. More than 50 families participated.
Near the event area 32 employees and family members took part in a clean-up activity. Bringing Light to People recycling boxes were also placed in LaLaport Toyosu, and several other corporate citizenship activities undertaken by the Panasonic Group were introduced to help encourage social action.
