The Panasonic Group, in collaboration with the approved NPO Association for Rengein Tanjoji International Cooperation (ARTIC), held the Awards Ceremony for the Fifth Book Report Contest at the ARTIC Human Resources Development Center in Yangon on November 18. ARTIC, a partner in the LIGHT UP THE FUTURE project to bring light to people in areas without electricity, is primarily active in education, based on its belief in developing people who will work for the prosperity of their country rather than directly providing aid to people in need.

As part of its collaborative activities, since 2019 it has distributed translated editions (into Burmese) of An Untrapped Sunao Mind and other works by our founder, Konosuke Matsushita, on his philosophies for life and business to junior and senior high school students and teachers, and held a book report contest. The fifth such contest this year required elementary school students to read essays by three great people from Myanmar and to write reports about them. Eleven out of the approximately 200 entries this year received prizes, and one of these was selected for the Panasonic Award.

Ma May Myat Thoon Eain (center of the photo), the winner of the Panasonic Award(1st Prize), described in her report how the essays of great people who gave their all for the independence of Myanmar inspired her with a strong desire to work in a job that would benefit the people of her country.

The judging panel were impressed by the fact that she had already begun to take action by talking with her family and other people about the content of the books and those elements that impressed her.

The award ceremony was attended by Manager Togo of the Social Action Promotion Section of PEX Corporate Citizenship Department (right in the photo), to directly present the certificates to the recipients.

Speaking to them, she commented that "This contest offers you a chance to read books by great people of Myanmar, think about what you have read, and express your thoughts on your own future and relations with others. Please hold dear that passionate commitment, to contribute to the prosperity of Myanmar."
