Philippines: Start of BLS/AED Training for PMPC Employees in Collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross
In August 2023 Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corporation (PMPC) started an employee training program for basic life support (BLS) and automated external defibrillator (AEDs) in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross. On October 20 the second training was held in the PMPC office, with 30 employees attending.
PMPC is engaged in several corporate citizenship activities as a member of the Panasonic Group with its brand slogan of "Live Your Best." This training was started to help realize that goal. All PMPC's employees will complete the training in around two years, raising their ability and willingness to help save lives and contribute to society in line with the brand slogan.
The content of the program was developed by PMPC and the Philippine Red Cross in collaboration. It uses demonstrations to teach BLS for CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), which doesn't require any special equipment, and for AEDs, which are not well known in the Philippines. It also shows how to treat everyday cuts, burns, and heatstroke, including points to note for lifting and moving injured people.
The program is a pioneering one in the Philippines, as it raises the awareness of all employees regarding the saving of lives and ways to use AEDs. Initiatives unique to Panasonic like this one will gain the trust and support of society and our employees, while also lifting our brand value.
