Over 800 Parents and Kids Join Battery and Solar Lamp Workshops
In July and August Panasonic Energy Co., Ltd. (PEC) held in-person battery and solar lamp workshops open to all parents and kids in Osaka and Tokyo. More than 800 parents and children attended the three events.
With natural disasters once again happening in several locations this year, the workshops taught the necessity of preparedness measures like having a supply of batteries at home in case a blackout or other emergency occurs. They also presented new batteries and flashlights with environmentally friendly packaging. They also described PEC's work on verification testing for recycling used batteries for use as new ones. This initiative is being conducted in collaboration with Aeon Retail Co., Ltd. Collection boxes for batteries have been placed at 22 Aeon/Aeon Style stores in Tokyo and Osaka, as an easy way to help contribute to the environment. The workshops also described initiatives to reduce environmental impacts by Panasonic as a top manufacturer of batteries, such as lowering CO2 emissions to zero in real terms in its factories in Japan and elsewhere.
Participants offered many impressions regarding the workshops, a few of which we will share here.
・ "I was glad to learn about basic knowledge of batteries and Panasonic's efforts to contribute to society."
・ "The collection boxes for recycling are a good idea with social significance."
・ "It motivated me to recycle more."
・ "It was fun for both parents and kids, and we have learned a lot together."
・ "I want to work for Panasonic."
PEC will continue the battery and solar lamp workshops to develop human potential and raise awareness about disaster preparedness and the environment, and at the same time enhancing Panasonic's brand image and creating fans.
