Philippines: Some 30 Employees Engage in Tree Planting and River Cleaning

Some 30 CSR staff, employees of various departments, union officers, and staff of employee cafeterias of Panasonic Industrial Devices Philippines Corporation (PIDPH) joined in tree planting and river cleaning at the end of March 2023.

This activity was undertaken to raise environmental awareness for the participants and express appreciation to the local community supporting the company in its day-to-day operation. First, they planted many types of trees in the Carmelray Industrial Park II near PIDPH's offices, including mango, jackfruit, cottonfruit, longkong, and rambutan.

Next the team, led by PIDPH Human Resources Department Ms. Mary Ann Diaz, trekked from the office for over 30 minutes along a tough road to reach the San Juan River. Everyone worked together for approximately an hour to collect a great amount of garbage from the river.

This volunteer activity required a great deal of physical effort, especially from those joining for the first time. But as one participant said, "It's such a wonderfully fulfilling feeling to do something good for the environment like this, and to actually see the happiness of local residents."
