Brazil:Event for Better Health Held to Coincide with World Health Day
On April 16 Panasonic Extrema (PANABRAS) held Walk/Run for a Better Life, its first event aiming at better health for its employees, their families, and community partners. The event was timed to coincide with World Health Day (a global health awareness day held on April 7 each year).
The event was organized by nurses of Panasonic Extrema's health care office, health and safety staff, legal affairs, and the marketing team. Participants included 62 employees and 43 family members, and as partners to help in the event, 36 students and faculty members of FAEX, a local medical university, and staff from medical clinics and the city hall. The participants exercised under instruction by experts and then walked or ran in a city park. For joining the event they received health food kits, T-shirts, and medals.
A medical support area was set up, and students from the local medical university measured blood pressure and checked the GI value of food (an index of the effect on blood sugar levels of food products) as part of internship activities.
This event helped the participants to improve their health and promoted collaboration with many local partners.
