Panasonic Eco Relay for Sustainable Earth Activities in Many Countries

Environmental activities were held in regions of North America, the UAE, and Taiwan on Earth Day (a day to think about, appreciate, and take action for the global environment) on April 22.

Believing that a truly global mindset is needed to create truly green products, since 1998 Panasonic Group employees, their family members, and local communities have actively conducted environmental activities to raise environmental awareness and change life styles.

From 2010 these activities have been promoted worldwide under the new name of Panasonic Eco Relay for Sustainable Earth, incorporating the idea of connecting generations together. This month's issue introduces activities in three regions.

North America:

On April 18, the Panasonic Group in North America held Panasonic Eco Relay for Sustainable Earth activities in three regions: New Jersey, Washington, and California.

At the New Jersey operating site of Panasonic Corporation of North America (PNA), over 40 PNA employees joined in cleaning up Branch Brook Park and tidying up after the yearly cherry festival. They collected over 270 kilograms of garbage. Jamie, an employee who took part in the event, commented that "It was really a great day, I met so many people for the first time. I'm very proud of working for Panasonic." The event was a good opportunity to successfully bond fellow employees of Panasonic.エコリレーに参加した北米の皆さん.jpg

UAE:

On February 25, 64 employees and family members of Panasonic Marketing Middle East & Africa FZE (PMMAF) cleaned up the coastal area and planted trees in the Al Zorah Natural Reserve in the Emirate of Ajman, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

On this day the participants collected 175 kilograms of trash to preserve the oceanic life and wildlife of the natural reserve to help return it to its original state. They also planted 170 mangroves, to contribute to the UAE government's goal of planting 100 million of these trees by 2030.

This activity embodies PMMAF's commitment to establish a relationship of harmony between people, the natural environment and social environments. It will continue to be held in the future.

Taiwan:

On March 12, over 300 employees of seven companies of the Panasonic Group in Taiwan (PTW, PAVCTW, PESECMTW, PIDMTW, PIDSTW, PSTW, and PHTW) took part in a tree planting event held in Long Gang Wan Ping Park. Huang Zheng-Cheng, head of the Panasonic Taiwan Regional Headquarters and President of Panasonic Taiwan Co., Ltd. joined in this effort as a representatives of the company.
A thousand people took part on the day, including ordinary citizens, the mayor of Taoyuan, the heads of the city's agricultural and water supply bureaus, and other city executives. They planted 9 large trees, 1,000 shrubs, and 1,200 seedlings including orange jasmine and rhododendrons native to Taiwan.

Panasonic Taiwan has actively participated in Panasonic Eco Relay for Sustainable Earth activities over many years. It will continue through these activities to encourage a change in awareness toward the environment among its employees, and to contribute to protect the global environment as the mission of citizens of Earth.
