Indonesia: PIDSG-BT Participates in Support Program in Batam for Stunting of Children
Indonesia's Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) is supporting children who will take the lead in the future toward the year 2045 under its Golden Indonesian Vision 2045 state long-term development plan. One issue it must deal with is that Indonesia's rate of stunting for children is 27%, the fourth worst in the world, and far from the figure of under 20% recommended by WHO.
Donation ceremony by the Riau Islands National Population and Family Planning Agency
To take action on this situation, the National Population and Family Planning Agency of the Riau Islands, where Panasonic Industrial Devices Batam (PIDSG-BT) is located, launched the Company Program for the Care of Stunting of Children to gain corporate support for children at risk of stunting, asking for companies on the islands to join in.
As one of those companies, PIDSG-BT joined the program in September 2022, receiving approximately $6,000 from the Batam government. A fund-raising campaign was also held for PIDSG-BT employees to raise awareness about the problem of the stunting of children in Batam, their local region.
The campaign raised $4000. The combined $10,000 from the subsidy and the campaign was provided from September 2022 to February 2023 to 19 children suffering from stunting in Baloi Permai Village in Batam, primarily for the purchasing of food and medicine.
We hope this effort helps in even a small way to promote the health of children in Batam.
