Panasonic Energy Co., Ltd. (PEC) held in-person battery workshops and neck light workshops open to ordinary parents and kids the first time in four years at the Panasonic Center Tokyo (March 29 to 30) and the OSTEC Exhibition Hall (April 6). A total of 300 parents and children attended.

The battery workshops covered science elements taught in elementary school like the history of batteries and their uses and types.

The neck light workshops taught the evolution of lighting and the characteristics and uses of LEDs.

With the rising concern over disaster preparedness, they also taught facts relating to the home storage batteries and about environmental issues, then introduced PEC batteries and LED lights used in disaster preparedness front lines in Japan and elsewhere.

The kids were also allowed to actually look at, touch, and experience ethically packaged batteries in environmentally friendly paper packaging that were recently announced for release. Lastly the children tried out making their own original Handmade Dry-cell Battery and LED Neck Lights.

Finally, everyone lit up their lights at the same time to illuminate the workshops.

The participants left many comments through the questionnaires, some of which we reprint here: "They explained very clearly about the batteries we use in everyday life"; "Both parents and kids could enjoy the experience of making the battery together"; "It was good to hear how batteries and LED lights are helping in disaster-stricken areas and worldwide"; "I could see that Panasonic is actively engaged in the SDGs"; "It was fun and I could learn about science too." PEC will continue to bring light to people's hearts to develop human potential and raise awareness about the environment and create fans to enhance Panasonic's brand image through these battery workshops.
