Japan: Kid Witness News (KWN) Japan Contest
The Japan secretariat of the Kid Witness News (KWN), educational support through video production program held the KWN Japan Contest 2022 online on March 19.
A total of 109 works on the theme of "what we want to communicate now" were submitted by 2,018 participants in 135 teams from 98 elementary, junior high, and high schools throughout Japan.
The submitted works were carefully judged by experts including university professors, TV news chiefs, and chief editors of magazines to select the Best Video Award, SDGs Award, Special Video Instructors Award, and the Panasonic Prize.
Two students of Aoyama Gakuin Yokohama Eiwa High School acted as supporting MCs for the awards ceremony, a new initiative for this contest to allow students of participating schools to experience the realities of creating such shows.
In the awards ceremony, Takashi Usami of Gamba Osaka(Soccer Team) presented a LUMIX to the school that won the Best Video Award, and President Toyoshima, PEAC presented a 4K video camera to the school that won the Panasonic Prize.
