The six Panasonic Group companies in Singapore1held an event to protect fireflies in collaboration with the National Parks Board of Singapore (NParks)at PasirRisPark on November 19.
The event was held as part of the Eco Relay activities. It first started in 2019 with the aim of raising the environmental awareness of employees and their families by allowing them to come into contact with nature. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was suspended in 2020 and 2021, and this event in 2022 became the last one.
Under the instruction of members of NParks, 36 volunteer employees and family members cleaned up the mangroves2that the fireflies inhabit and played a game for children about nature and biodiversity.
In its activities so far the Panasonic Group companies in Singapore have donated 20 light bulbs that are effective in promoting reproduction of the fireflies and 50 mangrove trees, as well as creating soil to help larvae to grow and observing the number of fireflies. Approximately 200 employees and family members have taken part in these conservation activities.
We will continue to engage in various environmental activities in Singapore.
