On September 21 and 22, the "High School Summit 2026 to Regenerate the Nature of the Beach in Yokosuka," sponsored by the Panasonic Group, brought together students from 18 high schools across Japan who are working to regenerate the nature of the beach.

At the summit, students presented their activities and research findings on topics including eelgrass restoration, marine litter reduction, and biodiversity conservation. Through guidance from experts and discussions with fellow participants, they deepened their knowledge and built a network with peers working on similar initiatives across different regions.

For more than 20 years, the Panasonic Group has worked to protect marine ecosystems through collaboration with WWF Japan. In recent years, these efforts have expanded to include serving sustainable seafood in company cafeterias, planting mangroves at overseas sites, and restoring eelgrass beds through participation in the Tokyo Bay UMI Project, thereby promoting the sustainable use of marine resources and the conservation of marine environments.

At the same time, as the decline of seagrass beds due to climate change and other factors becomes a nationwide concern, it is important to cultivate more young people who can lead marine conservation efforts and broaden participation in these activities. Accordingly, the Panasonic Group sponsored the summit to support learning and interaction among high school students who will lead the next generation.

Through our continued efforts to protect the marine environment and collaborate with the next generation, we remain committed to preserving the richness of the oceans for future generations.
