Supporting Fukushima's Reconstruction - 15 Years Since the Earthquake
March 11 marked 15 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake. The Panasonic Group has been continuously supporting the recovery of Fukushima, one of the regions most severely affected by this complex disaster. During February and March--when awareness of disaster prevention and recovery is heightened--a variety of initiatives were carried out across different locations.
■ Sharing Fukushima's Current Situation and Progress in Recovery
On February 19, Panasonic Holdings Corporation invited officials from the Fukushima Prefectural Government and young storytellers from the Iwaki Storyteller Association as guest speakers and held an online "Social Good Meetup (SGM)" for employees after work. These lectures, focused on "Fukushima's Recovery," have been held since 2022, featuring speakers from the prefectural government, NPOs, and schools, with approximately 800 employees participating to date. This time, we listened to the current challenges facing the local community and the aspirations of the younger generation for recovery.
■ Reconstruction Support Initiatives Across Japan
On March 3, in collaboration with Kadoma City, we held the "Fukushima Marche" at XC KADOMA, encouraging support through the purchase of Fukushima products.
This marked the first collaboration of this kind with Kadoma City and provided an opportunity for both employees and many residents to support Fukushima's recovery together.
In addition, during March, Panasonic Industry locations in Nishi-Kadoma and Toranomon also held Fukushima Marche, where many employees purchased Fukushima products.
Furthermore, on March 11, Panasonic Switching Technologies Co., Ltd. at the Obihiro site served a special Fukushima reconstruction support menu in the company cafeteria for the first time. Including Obihiro, a total of 10 sites offered support menus in March, further promoting reconstruction support initiatives across various locations.
