Panasonic Group is committed to realizing both a better life and a sustainable global environment. Under our long-term environmental vision, "Panasonic GREEN IMPACT," we are working toward the realization of carbon neutrality and a circular economy. In addition, through our global initiative "Panasonic ECO RELAY for Sustainable Earth" as part of our corporate citizenship activities, we aim to expand our positive impact on society by raising environmental awareness and encouraging behavioral change among all employees.

As part of our Environment Month special feature, this issue highlights selected environmental activities being carried out around the world.

■Thailand: Tree-Planting Initiative Through PET Bottle and Can Collection

In Thailand, the employee participation-based environmental initiative "Let's Grow" is being implemented. The program aims to translate everyday actions into tangible environmental value by collecting PET bottles separately and converting the total weight into the equivalent number of trees to be planted.

Last fiscal year, nine companies participated and collected approximately 2,597 kg of PET bottles. Based on a conversion rate of one tree for every 20 kg collected, this resulted in approximately 130 trees being planted.

This year, under the name "Let's Grow #2," the campaign is being held from May through the end of August, with beverage cans newly included in the collection to further expand the initiative. In addition, a charity run, "Hero Run," will be held in November, with participants' total running distance converted into the number of trees to be planted. Tree planting based on these activities is scheduled for January 2027.

■Japan: Diverse Environmental Activities Rooted in Local Communities

In Japan, employees took part in a variety of environmental activities in communities across the country.

In Hannan City, Osaka Prefecture, approximately 30 employees and family members participated in activities to protect marine ecosystems, including eelgrass restoration, biodiversity observation, and coastal cleanup on May 31.

In addition to collecting significant amounts of marine debris, participants gathered flowering shoots that will produce approximately 4,000 seeds and observed a variety of marine life, gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of blue carbon ecosystems.

In Arakawa, Tokyo, approximately 30 employees and family members participated in a riverbank cleanup on June 6.This activity has been carried out regularly since 2023 as part of Panasonic Beauty's "Preserving Marine Resources" initiative. As part of this initiative, a portion of sales from the "nanocare hair dryer" is donated to the NPO Arakawa River Clean-aid Forum. In cooperation with the organization, employees participate in cleanup activities as an opportunity to deepen their understanding of environmental issues through hands-on experience.

In the Tsurumi River area of Kanagawa Prefecture, approximately 50 participants from the retirees' association, labor union, and the company joined a conservation activity for daylilies on June 13 in collaboration with a local NPO. By cutting surrounding grass and ensuring sufficient sunlight, the activity helped preserve the riverside landscape and support a habitat that attracts butterflies and other forms of biodiversity.

Through these cleanup and ecosystem conservation efforts, Panasonic is expanding its environmental protection efforts together with local communities.

■China: PET Bottle Cap Collection Campaign Across Group Companies

Panasonic Operational Excellence Co., Ltd. China and Northeast Asia Company (PEX-CNA) has been rolling out a PET bottle cap collection campaign since May for Panasonic Group companies in China. Employees place used PET bottle caps in dedicated collection boxes as part of efforts to raise environmental awareness.

Each company is responsible for preparing and placing the collection boxes, and all collected caps are gathered at the Baisha site in Hainan Province for use in local environmental initiatives.

To encourage participation, PEX-CNA provides refrigerator magnets as incentives to companies that set up collection boxes. These magnets are made from recycled bottle caps and symbolize the creation of new value from waste materials.
