USA: Month of Service 2025 Initiatives
Riverbank cleanup by employee volunteers
Since its founding in 1991, Panasonic North America (PNA) has placed "contributing to society" at the heart of its corporate philosophy. For more than 30 years, the company has offered a program that allows employees to participate in volunteer activities during paid time off. Currently, many group companies in North America grant employees 35 hours of paid volunteer leave annually. Each September, during the "Month of Service," a wide variety of volunteer opportunities are made available to employees. Below are highlights of some activities conducted during this year's Month of Service (September).
Month of Service 2025 Initiatives
As part of the Month of Service 2025, Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America, in partnership with PNA, collaborated with 17 nonprofit organizations to offer employees a total of 21 volunteer opportunities in Kansas and Nevada.
On September 13, employee volunteers working at the Kansas plant, which opened in July this year, participated in a local riverside cleanup event. On September 26, volunteers joined master naturalists and local volunteers to collect native seeds organized by the Johnson County Parks and Recreation Department in Kansas. Community-collected seeds will be used for restoration and conservation projects in the area.
This effort supports long-term sustainability by reducing reliance on commercial seed sources and strengthening community-based conservation. By preserving native plant species adapted to local ecosystems, these efforts also enhance resilience against invasive species and climate change.

Additional activities included volunteering at local food pantries to support people in need, volunteering at Habitat for Humanity, assembling robotics kits, as well as assembling 200 STEM education kits for the Boys and Girls Clubs.

In addition, a variety of activities were carried out in New Jersey, where PNA's headquarters is located. For example, in partnership with the nonprofit organization Habitat for Humanity Greater Newark, employee volunteers assisted with home renovations for local families in need.

Working together as a team, the volunteers undertook tasks such as assembling cabinets and painting walls. Throughout the project, participants experienced the joy of contributing to their community, and by the time the repairs were complete, they felt a strong sense of pride and accomplishment, as well as deeper bonds with their colleagues.
Employees who took part in these activities shared their thoughts, commenting, "Small actions can lead to big changes," "Even in our busy lives, spending time to help others allows us to grow as individuals," and "I feel a deeper connection with the community and the people around me." The Month of Service is more than just an event--it is a driving force that shapes our corporate culture and creates a positive ripple effect in society through each employee's passion and actions. Moving forward, PNA will continue to actively support employee volunteerism and work together to build a better future.
