Ryozen Historical Museum's Summer 2025 Special Exhibition and 2025 Illustration Contest

The Ryozen Foundation, affiliated with the Panasonic Group, operates the Ryozen Historical Museum, which opened in 1970 as a specialized museum for comprehensive research of the Bakumatsu period and Meiji Restoration.

The museum's first director was Konosuke Matsushita, the founder of our group, and the construction was overseen by Obayashi Corporation. The museum has amassed over 5,000 artifacts related to figures such as Ryoma Sakamoto and Toshizo Hijikata, including materials on the Shinsengumi and the Bakufu (Shogunate). Approximately 100 of these carefully selected items are displayed in its permanent and special exhibitions.

Currently, the second period of the summer special exhibition, "190th Anniversary of His Birth: Toshizo Hijikata and the Boshin War," is being held (from July 1 to September 15). To encourage more visitors, we have revised the benefits for special corporate members, allowing employees of our group and their accompanying family members (up to the second degree of kinship) to enter at half price. We hope you take this opportunity to visit.

In addition, we are organizing an illustration contest for students from elementary, junior high, high schools, universities, and vocational schools, themed around "Figures from the Bakumatsu period and Meiji Restoration." Through drawing illustrations, we aim to foster a deeper interest in history by encouraging engagement with the aspirations and achievements of those who paved the way for Japan's modernization, thereby contributing to broad societal education. We would appreciate it if you could spread the word.
