First Participation in the "Tokyo Bay UMI Project"  to Restore Marine Richness

On Sunday, June 1, our Group participated for the first time in an eelgrass restoration activity held at Umi-no-Koen in Yokohama. Together with volunteers from other companies and the local community, a total of 76 participants planted approximately 450 eelgrass seedlings.

This initiative is part of the "Tokyo Bay UMI Project," promoted by the Kanto Regional Development Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

It aims to restore seaweed beds that have declined due to coastal degradation and to protect marine ecosystems. Eelgrass beds are also gaining attention as a climate change countermeasure due to their high capacity for CO₂ absorption.

The Corporate Citizenship Division will continue to promote environmental awareness and behavioral change among employees by providing opportunities for environmental volunteering, thereby expanding the circle of environmental conservation.
