Launch of Special School Program - "AKARI" Action Project
The PHD/PEX Corporate Citizenship Division launched a new initiative in April 2025 titled "AKARI" Action Project- Special Program for Schools, and has begun accepting applications from participating schools. This program was developed in response to requests from schools and aims to raise awareness of non-electrified areas and foster interest in social issues and global perspective through hands-on activities.
The program is expected to be utilized as part of integrated studies and education on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The program consists of two main components. First, students take the initiative to collect recyclable items from their surroundings.
These items are then donated to the "AKARI" Action Project, contributing to the delivery of solar lanterns to communities without electricity.
In addition, students engage in letter exchanges with children in the recipient regions, allowing them to experience meaningful cross-cultural connections that transcend national borders.
Applications will be accepted by the end of October 2025. With the cooperation of the international NGO World Vision, the donated Panasonic solar lanterns will be delivered to local communities between November and December, in time for the Christmas season.
