India: Transforming a Dumping Yard into a Dense Forest - Ecosystem Restoration Project Initiated
The inauguration ceremony was attended by representatives from NSG and CATCH Foundation, PLSIND&SA Chairman Manish, and PECIN CFO Agarwal.
On March 7, Panasonic Life Solutions India (PLSIND) partnered with the Indian environmental NGO, CATCH Foundation, to launch an ecosystem restoration project as part of our global environmental initiative, "Panasonic ECO RELAY."
Over the next three years, 3,800 native plants will be sown and maintained to restore the local ecosystem at the National Security Guard (NSG) Campus in Manesar, Gurgaon. The NSG campus houses more than 10,000 residents and has all the necessary amenities for a township.
This effort aims to transform a part of the NSG's dumping yard into a dense forest. Saplings will be planted across an acre of land and maintained to ensure their growth.
This project will look at enhancing the biodiversity, preventing soil erosion, combating pollution, rehabilitating habitat for local wildlife and thus, creating a healthier ecosystem and offsetting carbon in the process.
PLSIND continues to strive to achieve the Panasonic Group's long-term environmental vision, "Panasonic Green IMPACT," by reducing CO2 emissions and realizing a circular economy through business activities. Additionally, through Panasonic ECO RELAY activities, we will work to ensure that each employee can participate in local communities as agents of change to solve global environmental issues.
