Japan: KWN Kids Report Initiative for the Panasonic Open Ladies
The Panasonic Open Ladies Golf Tournament was held at the Hamano Golf Club in Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture, over the three days of April 26 to 28. Students from the broadcasting club of Showa Gakuin Junior and Senior High School, which takes part in Kid Witness News (KWN), announced the players and interviewed Hinako Yamauchi, a professional golfer who competed in the tournament, and other people involved with it.

KWN is an educational support program run by the Panasonic Group globally. In Japan it gives aspiring journalists the chance to make kids reports in which they take on the challenge of making their own report program through fieldwork. The participating students were nervous at first but gradually relaxed. When they interviewed the players and members of the gallery, they prompted smiles from them. Through their thorough preparations and the report they made that fully conveyed the scenes and atmosphere of the tournament, they helped to contribute to its concept of being a golf event enjoyable by everyone.
