China: Award Ceremony Held for Panasonic Scholarship Asia

Panasonic Group companies in China held an award ceremony for the Panasonic Scholarship Asia in the Matsushita Memorial Hall in Beijing on April 12. The ceremony was attended by Wang Longshe, Secretary General of the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development, Vice President Zhao Bingdi of PEX CNA, and 40 students and faculty of Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Fudan University. Scholarships were awarded to 18 students.

The Panasonic Scholarship Asia is a community-based program active in nine countries and regions in Asia to foster next-generation youth. It was founded in 2014 to provide economic support to students studying at local universities and vocational training schools.

So far it has awarded scholarships to 1,033 students, including 105 in FY2023.

CNA Vice President Zhao's message to the students encouraged them to "Further your studies and concentrate on your areas of specialization with a global view to contribute to world peace and development in a humble way." Director Wang of the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development expressed the hope that the students would "Grow to become talented resources with ideals, skills, and a sense of responsibility." Deputy Director Wei of the Student Affairs Department of Tsinghua University stated the desire to "Transform models of human resources development and share resources through cooperative relationships between Panasonic and industry, academia, and research institutions." From the Japanese side, General Manager Akiyo Domoto (Corporate Citizenship Office, Panasonic Holdings Corporation) gave a video message.

Zhang Ziqi, one of the recipients, gave a message of commitment on behalf of all the scholarship students. "As youth living in a new age, we are constantly trying to improve ourselves, and intend to devote ourselves to our studies so that we can contribute to a better future for both China and Japan."

After the ceremony the honored guests and the scholarship students visited the Matsushita Memorial Hall to learn more about the management philosophy and history of the Panasonic Group and about the life of its Founder, Konosuke Matsushita.
