Japan: KWN Japan Contest 2023 Awards Ceremony Held
The Japan Contest Awards Ceremony 2023 for Kid Witness News (KWN), the Panasonic Group's global educational support through video production program, was held on Sunday, March 17 at the Panasonic Center Tokyo. It was the first time in four years to hold it as an in-person event. The ceremony was also streamed online.
In FY2023, 158 teams from 95 elementary and secondary schools across the country took part in KWN Japan.
The ceremony announced the winners from these, including 40 works (category awards, special 20th anniversary awards*, works of excellence, etc.) and three top awards for each elementary, junior high, and high school category selected through strict examination by experts such as university professors, TV station news chiefs, and magazine chief editors, as well as one work for the Panasonic Award chosen by 347 votes cast by Panasonic employees. The ceremony was presented in local newspapers and online media and also screened on the KWN Global Official Facebook page with over 180,000 views.
