Global: Panasonic Scholarship Alumni Networking Event Held
On February 20 an online alumni networking event for the Panasonic Scholarship was held with participation from former scholarship students from Asia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.
The Panasonic Scholarship is a scholarship program founded to commemorate the company's 80th anniversary in 1998. It gave aid to students from eight countries and regions (Indonesia, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, China, and Taiwan) studying in Master's courses in science and engineering in Japan to help foster youth to lead Asia in the 21st century. In 2014 it became the Panasonic Scholarship Asia as a locally-oriented program to foster future generations in a total of nine countries and regions, with Cambodia being added, where economic aid is provided to students at local universities and vocational training schools. An alumni networking event is held annually to bring together former scholarship students. Furthermore, from FY2023 opportunities for courses to learn about the thinking of our founder, Konosuke Matsushita, are being provided to each country.
Former Panasonic Scholarship students certified from 1998 to 2013 were called on to participate in the networking event, with some 34 attending. Each described their recent situation in Japanese, confirming that they are active as global leaders in diverse fields such as in the Panasonic Group, education, consulting, and IT. "It was wonderful to be able to meet with fellow students I hadn't seen since we graduated."
The Panasonic Group will continue to support the development of young human resources who will lead Asia in the 21st century under its belief that it is people who will build sustainable societies.
