◆Brazil: "A Casa do Leo*," an Environmental Education Project Expanding Nationwide
The battery factory in São José dos Campos
In Brazil, the environmental education program A Casa do Leo (Leo's House) is being implemented nationwide to foster environmental awareness and deepen understanding of a circular economy.
At the battery factory in São José dos Campos, São Paulo State, students have the opportunity to tour the battery manufacturing process and learn about the importance of recycling and proper battery disposal. Schools visiting the factory are also provided with collection bins for used batteries, helping to strengthen community-based recycling efforts.
For communities that cannot visit the factory, a mobile truck travels to local areas and provides engaging learning opportunities through VR experiences, games, and exhibits. To date, the truck has visited 45 cities and 60 supermarkets, with approximately 17,300 participants. The project also includes used-battery collection activities to further expand battery recycling within local communities (in total 22.219 batteries collected).
