What is the difference between “Loop prevention function" and "Loop detection and shutdown function"?

“Loop prevention function"
This function prevents loop by fixing ports to the MDI-X mode so that they cannot link up even when a straight cable is wrongly used to cause a loop connection.

"Loop detection and shutdown function"
Packets for loop detection are sent out from the switch and, when a loop connection is occurred, the erroneous port will be disconnected. Then, LED of the port lights up in orange and Loop History LED blinks in green to notify that looping was occurred.
