The 802.1x function is provided by port based authentication and MAC based authentication. How is operation effected by type of authentication?

1. Port based authentication controls authentication on port basis. One terminal port is authenticated per port. If one terminal is authenticated, its subordinate terminals can communicate via switching hub or other devices. 2. MAC based authentication controls authentication using MAC addresses.
