1. Port based authentication controls authentication on port basis. One terminal port is authenticated per port. If one terminal is authenticated, its subordinate terminals can communicate via switching hub or other devices. 2. MAC based authentication controls authentication using MAC addresses. This method enables to authenticate a specified number of terminals for each port.
