The semifinal matchup between Panasonic IMPULSE and Obic SEAGULLS was a defensive battle.

The first score didn't come until the 4th quarter with a kick from IMPULSE Kicker Eita Saeki #11.
SEAGULLS moved down the field after a 47 yard kick return to tie the game with a field goal to send the game into overtime.

In overtime IMPULSE scored first with a field goal after not being able to get a first down.
SEAGULLS scored the game’s only touchdown with a 18 yard pass on 3rd down to defeat the defending champions 9-6 in the semifinals of the Japan X Bowl Tournament.
