The Panasonic IMPULSE defeated their western division rival Asahi Soft Drink
CHALLENGERS 14-7 during the final day of Japan’s Silver Week holiday period and remain undefeated in 2015.

The sun was relentless at the beginning of the game, shining bright and pushing the temperature up to what felt more like mid-summer rather than a game in mid-September. Similarly, the IMPULSE offense began the game hot, as IMPULSE QB #8 Tetsuo “Iron Man” Takata captained an impressive time burning first drive, capped off by a 2 yard touchdown run by IMPULSE RB #24 Ben Dupree.

In the 2nd Quarter, Tetsuo once again was ready to drive, leading a second energy taxing drive down the field finished off by a 20 yard gallop into the end zone by Dupree. The impulse capitalized on 2 of its 3 offensive possessions in the first half, ending the half up 14-0 over the CHALLENGERS.

In the 2nd half, following some stagnant play from both teams, the CHALLENGERS got their offense going in the 4th quarter, pressing their way to a 5 yard touchdown run. Trailing by 7 points late in the 4th, the CHALLENGERS played with new life and intensity, but the IMPULSE defense, led by some very physical play upfront by DE #21 Carlton Jones, held strong and prevented the CHALLENGERS from capitalizing on their newly established momentum.

The IMPULSE offense finished the day with 274 yards total, while the CHALLENGERS produced a total of 159 yards in an intense battle between the rival X League West Division Teams. IMPULSE WR #15 Tatsuya “Moss” Tanka was the unsung star of the day for the IMPULSE offense, racking up 146 yards of total offensive production throughout the game highlighted by some impressive runs and receptions
