OFFENSE

The IMPULSE offense should be significantly improved for the 2015 season. First year IMPULSE American Coach Tim Goins, tasked with improving the IMPULSE's run game at the beginning of 2015 as the teams new OL Coach and Run Game Coordinator, will be paired with Offensive Coordinator Tsuneaki Furumoto, in charge of Panasonic's pass game and overall coordination of the offense.

Veteran QB #8 Tetsuo Takata returns to the IMPULSE as their leader under center which will provide rare stability and leadership at the most important position on offense. QB #18 Takashi Ohara, experienced and also very capable of leading a strong offensive attack, will also have a significant role with the offense in 2015.

The IMPULSE offense will feature a number of talented running backs, led by new American import #24 Ben Dupree (The Citadel), a shifty speedster who looks to have a breakout opening season in the X League. The very quick and nimble #25 RB Hiroaki Suga will also be a featured back in the IMPULSE's offensive attack. Other RB's that will see plenty of action this season include bruising RB #41 Shunichi Iwata, experienced veteran #33 Shun Yokota, and the thunderous #39 Hayato Araki.

The strength of every offense can be found in its offensive line. The IMPULSE OL looks to carry its progress from the spring season, where the line helped pave the way for over 500 total yards rushing in the team's 2 spring games, into the fall. Powerful OT #75 Toshiki Konishi and new American import OL #65 Edmond Davis (Alabama State), who earned 1st Team All-SWAC honors in 2013, will lead the way for a young but improved offensive line. American OL #55 Scott Duffy, who graduated from Waseda University (Japan), will look to make a significant impact at offensive guard after converting from the defensive line in the spring.

The IMPULSE's receiving group is stocked full of very talented receivers. Veteran #1 Koji Honda, Japan National Team selectee #7 Shoma Endo, and offensive captain #80 Naohiko Shibata will lead the most talent loaded position group on the IMPULSE's offense. #2 Shohei Kishimoto, a high energy and effort player, is the team’s leading tight end.

DEFENSE

The IMPULSE defense, which posted 4 shutouts in 7 games last season, should also see a significant improvement over last season. Defensive Coordinator Masayoshi Yamanaka, nicknamed "Coach Zero" following the defenses 4 consecutive shutout games in 2014, seeks to field a hard charging, stingy defense this season that seeks to become the best in the X League. Coach Zero was selected for and served as the 2015 Japan National Team's Defensive Line Coach during the IFAF World Cup held in July. With the addition of 2013 FCS All-American DB #10 Emory Polley (Brown University) and thick bodied DL #21 Carlton Jones (Alabama State), who earned 2nd Team All-SWAC honors in 2013, Coach Zero will have a very strong defensive roster at his disposal to work with this fall.

Up front, Alabama State graduate Carlton Jones will join forces with a gritty group of experienced defensive linemen, led by #98 Makoto Kajiwara, a team captain, a hard charging and stout #90 Daiki Kushi, and #17 David Motu, a very talented, versatile American defender from Hawaii that graduated from Nihon University in Japan and serves as the heart and soul of the IMPULSE defense. 2015 Japan National Team selectees #43 Yashuo Wakizaka and #42 Munekazu Shikama will also provide solid depth to a strong defensive rotation.

The linebacker position is led by team captain #92 Naoya Takayama, the IMPULSE's team leader who is also the voice of the defense. Spirited LB #13 Akinobu Soma, also a team captain, leads the list of talent joining Takayama at the linebacking position.

The defensive secondary, which should be stronger following the addition of American import Emory Polley, also contains two 2015 Japan National Team selections in #12 Ryohei Imanishi and #27 Atsushi Tsuji. #32 Yuya Washino, a big bodied and very athletic defensive back that will pair with Polley to form the defensive secondary’s "Bad Boys" duo, also stands out amongst a very experienced IMPULSE secondary unit.

SPECIAL TEAMS

The IMPULSE's kicking duties will be handled by a talented and experienced pair of brothers, with #11 Eita Saeki at kicker and 2015 Japan National Team selectee #16 Shintaro Saeki handling punts.
