The Panasonic IMPULSE defeated the Asahi Challengers 28-7 to kick off the 61st Green Bowl Tournament, held every spring amongst members of the X League's West Division.

Failing to capitalize on a couple of promising drives to start the game, including one that ended with a missed FG attempt, IMPULSE QB #18 Takashi "Batman" Ohara connected on touchdown passes to WR #4 Koji Takagi and WR #1 Koji Honda in the 2nd quarter and the offense utilized a physical run game led by #41 Shunichi "Hankyu" Iwata's 137 rushing yards to pull away from the Challengers en route to a combined total of 342 yards on offense.

RB #33 Shun "Karate Kid" Yokota also had a strong showing running for the IMPULSE, as he finished the day with 64 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown. Outside of a lone 40 yard touchdown carry by Challenger RB #22 in the 4th Quarter, the IMPULSE defense had a strong showing, allowing the Challengers to amass a total of just 95 yards on the
