「ルオーと日本展」図録の英語翻訳版小冊子
2020年春に開催した「ルオーと日本展 響き合う芸術と魂 －交流の百年」は、コロナ禍により、会期が17日間に短縮され、またフランスから出展が予定されていた複数の作品の展示ができなかったなど、多くの変更を余儀なくされました。そのため、本展のために準備した作品や、展覧会の研究成果を、国内外の多くの方々に紹介することがかないませんでした。
この度、本展の内容を国際的にも発信したく、展覧会のカタログのテキストを一部英語に翻訳し、小冊子として発行しました。
An English booklet of ‘Georges Rouault and Japan’
‘Georges Rouault and Japan: A Shared Spirit and Sense of Art’ exhibition was held from April 11 to June 23, 2020 at the Panasonic Shiodome Museum of Art. This exhibition was designed to introduce the little-known relationship Georges Rouault had with Japan. Displays focused on Rouault works associated with Japan, materials related to these works, and works by modern and contemporary Japanese artists influenced by Rouault.
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic prevented us from organizing the exhibition we had envisioned. We were forced to shorten the duration from 66 to 17 days and were unable to procure the many artworks from France that we had hoped to display. Sadly, as a result, the works and research we had prepared for the exhibition reached the eyes of only a few visitors.
To ensure our work reaches a wider audience, we translated the exhibition catalogue into English and published it as a booklet. Here is a link to a PDF of the booklet. We hope you enjoy reading it along with the Japanese catalogue.
