Vietnam: "Green Consumption and Sustainable Business Development" Workshop

Panasonic Vietnam representatives were invited to the "Green Consumption and Sustainable Business Development" workshop at Vietnam Foreign Trade University. The workshop was held by VESDI – Vietnam Environment and Sustainable Development Institute, and GGIOVN – Go Green International Organization Vietnam. Approximately, there were 300 students from universities, media agencies, State agencies attended the workshop. Its purpose was to raise an awareness of young people in the consumption habits that are friendly with environment. There were 3 guests invited as main speakers at the workshop: Mr. Trinh Minh, Anh from National Committee for International Economic Cooperation Office, Mr. Pham Truong Son from Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality of Vietnam Productivity Centre and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Minh from Panasonic Vietnam.
Three speakers shared with the audience their view points on what is Green Consumption, its important role, lessons from other countries, the practical application in Vietnam and Vietnamese government's countermeasures to promote and encourage "Green consumption trends". They also answered all the questions of participants related to the issue. At present, many people and students pay more attention in Green Consumption as they understand it is important factor of the modern society.
The workshop is a part of the project "Promote the onsumption of green products that are friendly with the environment" of VESDI. This project was selected by "2010 Vietnam Innovation Day" - a program of World Bank, Vietnam Ministry of Resources and Environment, and Ho Chi Minh Youth Union.
