UK: Attend charity Bike race 2

UK2_01.jpgPanasonic System network UK's volunteers from all areas of the factory worked successfully together during their free time over a weekend and participated in the Coast to Coast Bike Ride Challenge, cycling over 100 miles from Ilfracombe to Devon in South West England - raising over £7000 for Marie Curie.

The whole company were involved in this activity; the volunteers came from all areas of the factory from General Managers to Shop floor workers; the rest of the workforce were also involved heavily in fundraising, donating gifts for raffles and "guess the score" rugby draws, and individual sponsorships.

Marie Curie is a charity that provide nursing care and assistance for approx 50% of cancer patients who die at home. They work through the night and day to provide care for patients in the comfortability and familiarity of their own homes. The nurses also provide practical and emotional support.

UK_01.jpgPanasonic Manufacturing UK LtdCardiff, sponsored 22 brave and adventurous employees to take part in the Ty Hafan 28 mile (43km) Cycle Challenge to raise funds for the Ty Hafan Hospice which was established in 1999 to care for children in Wales who suffer from life-limiting conditions and has the Royal Highness Prince Charles of Wales as its patron.

The event on Sunday 5th of September took the riders through some of the most picturesque views of the Welsh valleys and villages along former railway lines, canal paths and tram roads.

UK_02.jpgThe Challenge was a team event, so the overall finish times were more of a personal achievement rather than a race against the clock.

The event raised over £2000 and everyone said that the huge sense of achievement when crossing the finishing line made it all worth while.
